Eyes

Typical clinical signs of eye diseases include ocular discharge, squinting, redness or cloudiness of the eye, blindness and eyelid masses. Common diseases include moon blindness (equine recurrent uveitis), cataracts, glaucoma, corneal disorders caused by injuries or infections, eyelid injuries and eyelid tumours (e.g. sarcoids). Methods to diagnose eye diseases include examinations using an ophthalmoscope (retina) or slit lamp (front section of the eye), intraocular pressure measurements, high-resolution ultrasound scans and other imaging techniques, plus laboratory tests of tissue samples and swabs.
